Abstract
PURPOSE:To hold the flatness of the face of the end of an optical fiber cable by fixing the end with a plurality of small metallic sleeves at prescribed spaces. CONSTITUTION:The end of optical fiber bundle 1 is fixed with a plurality of small metallic sleeves 2 at prescribed spaces, and adhesive 5 is filled into the gap between bundle 1 and sheath 3. Thus, when the optical fiber bundle is bent, shearing stress in the axial direction for protruding fibers in the vicinity of the tip is absobed near the multisleeve structure, and the flatness of the face of the end of the fiber cable can be held without damaging the flexibility, resulting in no deterioration in the optical transmission characteristics.
