Abstract

PURPOSE: To recover the sensible heat of a grate conveyor by enclosing th return- side high-temp. region of the conveyor with a hood, sucking air into the hood, and taking out hot air.
CONSTITUTION: Pellets are fired with burner 7 in rotary kiln 5 of the furnace. Pellets are preheated in preheating chamber 4, they are freed of water in water separating chamber 3 with hot air introduced from chamber 4 through air feed duct 8, and they are dried in drying chamber 2 with hot air introduced from chamber 3 through air feed duct 9. The return-side high-temp. region of grate conveyor 1 which is reversed after passing through chamber 4 is enclosed with a hood, and heat recovering unit 20 is installed. Air sucked into unit 20 from the air intake with fan 11 is converted into hot air by heat exchange for conveyor 1. This hot air is fed to chamber 2 through duct 12 and to a cooling air duct through duct 13, or it is utilized as the primary air for burner 7, etc.
