Abstract

CONSTITUTION: In preparing an alkylene glycol diether by reacting a lower alkyl ether compound (e.g., dimethyl ether, etc.) shown by the formula I (R1 is alkyl; R2 is alkyl, phenyl, etc.) with alkylene oxides (e.g., ethylene oxide, etc.) shown by the formulas II and III (R3 is alkyl, phenyl; n' is 0W5), boron trifluoride and an organic active hydrogen compound (e.g., alcohols, carbonic acids, sulfonic acids, phenols, etc. in an amount 0.1W5 calculated as active hydrogen number per boron trifluoride molecule) are coexistent.
