Abstract

PURPOSE: To fill a casing with water in a short time as preventing a shocking rise of pressure by filling the casing with a great amount of water by a runner and intercepting the supply of water from the runner before the pressure in the casing reaches to a shut-off head.
CONSTITUTION: When exhaust valves 11, 14, and 15 and a casing water-filling valve 8 are opened after a runner 4 is started to idle, pressurized water in a pipe 7 is introduced into a casing 1 via a bypass pipeline 9, and water in a daraft tube 5 is supplied into the casing 1 by a runner 4. Then, when the pressure in the casing 1 reaches to a set pressure, a pressure switch 17 is operated to close exhaust valves 11 and 15 and open a feed valve 19, and the water level in a runner chamber 2 is pushed down. This construction permits to fill the casing 1 with water in a short time and prevent a shocking rise of pressure.
