Abstract

PURPOSE: To novel luminous material for excitation with low-speed electron rays, exhibiting red emission, capable of imparting the electric conductivity to a fluorescent substance, and prepared by incorporating a fluorescent substance activated with Eu with an electric ally conductive material of indium oxide doped with tin at a specific weight ratio.
CONSTITUTION: A luminous material prepared by incorporating (A) one or more types of yttrium lanthanum gadolinium oxide (oxysulfide and vanadate) fluorescent substances activated with Eu expressed by (a) formula I (0≤x≤1; 0≤y≤1; x+ y≤1), (b) formula II and (c) formula III with (B) an electrically conductive material of indium oxide doped with tin expressed by formula IV (0.008≤x≤0.1) at a weight ratio between the components (A) and (B) of 14:1W1:14. The component (a) in the component (A) is obtained as follows: (1-x-y) moles Y3O3, x moles La2O3, y moles Gd2O3 and a necessary amount of Eu2O3 are dissolved in nitric acid, coprecipitating them with oxalic acid, and heating the precipitate in air into a mixed powder. The resultant powder is then mixed with B2O3, Na2CO3, etc. and calcined in air at 1,000°C or above.
