Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare the title composition having a higher luminescence than a red luminescent composition based on SnO2 under the excitation with low energy electron rays of an acceleration voltage of ≤1kV, esp. ≤100V, by mixing a composite oxide of Cd and Sn with a proper amount of a specific red light-emitting fluorescent.
CONSTITUTION: A composition obtained by mixing (A) 1pt.wt. of a composite oxide of CdO.wSnO2 (0.1≤w≤10) and (B) 9W1/4 parts of a red light-emitting fluorescent material such as (Y2O2S:Eu) (i.e. yttrium oxysulfide doped with europirm), [(Zn1-x, Cdx)S:Ag] (0.65≤x≤0.9), etc. The composition can be prepared at a lower cost than a red luminescent composition based on In2O3, and nevertheless, emits more intense light by low energy electron rays of an acceleration voltage of ≥ about 70V.
