Abstract

PURPOSE: To effect drying and incinerating in one furnace to improve a thermal efficiency by a method wherein a drying chamber, an incinerating chamber and a heat exchanging unit are formed integrally in the furnace.
CONSTITUTION: Dehydrated sludge sent into a drying chamber 2 by a conveyor 11 is dried in a heat exchanging unit 4 by heated feeding air. The dried sludge is moved to an upper portion of the drying chamber 2 gradually and is dropped into an incinerating chamber 3 through an overflow pipe 25. On the other hand, exhaust gas, which absorbed moisture from the sludge and came up to the upper portion of the drying chamber 2, is injected into the incinerating chamber 3 from a lower portion thereof through an air duct 30. The sludge dropped through the overflow pipe 25 is fluidized by the injection of the exhaust gas from the drying chamber 2 and is incinerated by a burner 24. Ash of the incinerated sludge is dropped onto a conveying conveyor 32 through an ash withdrawal pipe 31 by an overflow system and is conveyed to a place as required.
