Abstract

PURPOSE: To offer an arc discharge type metal flame spray gun suitable for spraying a molten metal onto a relatively small surface area, by introducing two metal wires from two guide holes formed in an insulative nozzle to an inside surrounded with a nozzle surface, melting the metal wires there, and spraying the molten metal with carrier gas.
CONSTITUTION: The arc discharge type metal flame spray gun has a nozzle 5 made of a heat resistant insulative material such as alumina etc. The nozzle 5 is provided with two guide holes 2 for introducing metal wires 1 and a gas conduit 7 for introducing carrier gas which spray a molten metal. A space (A) for melting the wires 1 is formed inside the opening of the nozzle 5. The melting space (A) is preferably about 2W10mm inside apart from the top end of the nozzle opening. This spray gun enables to spray a molten metal onto a relatively small surface area to be coated. As a result, the spray gun is esp. suitable for a use such as formation of the end surface electrodes of a metallized film capacitor, because a thermal affection on the capacitor film caused by an arc discharge is a serious problem, so the spray gun can not be brought close to the film of capacitor.
