Abstract
The edges of a glass sheet 38 are first sprayed with a molten metal, e.g. copper alloy, containing 1/2 -4\ba1/2 % titanium, then heated, e.g. by electrical heating (Fig. 11, not shown) or gas burners (Fig. 12, not shown) and then sprayed with two layers of solder. A ring shield 90 beneath the spray 89 determines the width of the band of solder on the glass sheet. The spray gun 80 and shield 90 are mounted on an adjustable column 83.
