Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent accidents of the system caused by troubles of optical transmission system and to monitor the power source of receiver side, by sending back bias signals from the transmitter side at the receiver side. CONSTITUTION:When there is no input signal at terminal A of transmitting section 16, the output of AND gate 24 becomes ''0'' and the bias current is supplied from power source 18 to LEDs 20 and 21. Then the light output of each LED is transmitted to SCR modules 44 and 45 through optical fibers 31 and 32, and applied to the amplifier 36 as the bias signal through each phototransistor PT35. The bias signal of output of amplifier 36 is blocked by Zener diode ZD37 and returned to transmission side 16 through LED43, fibers 33 and 34, and then given to gate 24 through PT29 and 30, amplifiers 27 and 28, ZD25 and 26. When an input is given to terminal A under this condition, a signal is applied to the gate of SCR41 of circuits 44 and 45. If any trouble happens in the optical transmission system at this time, the output of gate 24 becomes ''0''.
