Abstract

PURPOSE:To simplify the adjustment of optical signal transmitting level by transmitting an optical signal for adjustment from the transmitting side, returning the decided result of the transmitted signal level from the receiving side to the transmitting side and adjusting the optical signal level in the transmitting side on the basis of the returned result. CONSTITUTION:An adjusting signal is sent from a transmitting data input terminal 14 of a transmitter 8 to an optical fiber transmitting line 24 through an electricity-light converter 10. In a receiver 9, the adjusting signal is applied to a detecting circuit 18 through light-electricity converter 17. The detecting circuit 18 decides whether the received optical signal level is proper or not and sends the decided result to a light-electricity converter 15 of the transmitter 8 through an electricity-light converter 22 and a transmitting line 25. The decided result of the receiver is displayed on a display device 12 by the output of the coverter 15. An optical signal level of the electricity-light converter 10 is adjusted by operating an adjusting circuit 11 on the basis of the displayed result, simplifying the adjustment of the tramsmitting level.
