Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable long distance transmission, by controlling the peak power of optical signal coupled from an optical communication device to an optical transmission line so that it is proportional to the optical signal peak power transmitted on the optical transmission line and the power variance of optical signal multiplex can be suppressed. CONSTITUTION:The transmission signal transmitted on an optical transmission line 2 is transmitted to the optical transmission line 2 via an optical transmitter 41. The optical signal on the transmission line is input to the photodetector via an optical branch circuit 5, and it is separated into the signal from this communication device 4 and the signal transmitted on the essential transmission line at the signal separation circuit 44. The said both signals are input to peak value detection circuits 46, 47 to detect the peak power. Two peak powers are compared at a comparison circuit 48 and both the signals are transmitted to the optical transmission line after the peak power of signal to be transmitted is equal to the peak power of signal transmitted on the essential transmission line.
