Abstract

PURPOSE:To adjust a bridging circuit for detecting signal collision by generating a signal to a local office after confirming that a communication medium is in a silent state. CONSTITUTION:A controlling device 17 checks the output of a receiver 12 at first. If an output is not generated from the receiver 12, it is discriminated that a communication line 11 is not used by any transmitting/receiving device. Under the condition, the controlling device 17 sends a packet to the local office. A variable resistance 16 is adjusted so that the detected output of an output from the receiver 12 by the said signal closes to ''0''. After completing the adjustment, the variable resistance 16 is kept under the status until the succeeding adjustment is performed. Thus, a coupling resistance 15b with comparatively similar resistance value can be used.
