CONSTITUTION:Voice signals are received and transmitted from terminals 1, 2 respectively and picture signals are inputted and outputted from terminals 9, 16 respectively. These signals are transmitted through a telephone circuit 6. A pause detector 19 detects a pause of voice communication by the sum of transmitted and received voice signals 21, 22. At that time, the amplifying degree of an amplifier 18 is adjusted in accordance with the output level of an MODEM carrier level detector 17. When an output 23 of the pause detector 19 is detected and an output 25 of the detection result of the volume of stored data from a transmission buffer memory 11 exceeds a prescribed value or when a carrier detection result is outputted 24, a control part 20 transmits other information, and in other cases, it transmits only voice signals.
