Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a highly reliable and light weight waveguide by fixing a metal tube having a projection at the inner bottom and a pyrolytic graphite tube having a concave section at the outer bottom section which fits with said projection tightly to the interior of the metal tube. CONSTITUTION:A projection 12 is provided at the inner bottom of a metal tube 8, and a pyrolytic graphite tube 9 having a concave section 13 at the outer bottom which fits with said projection 12 are tightly fixed to the interior of said tube 8. An electron beam reached through a collector inlet will impinge against the inner face of the graphite 9, and almost all of them will impinge against the bottom face 11. Consequently the bottom face 11 will be heated locally, but when employing the graphite having such shape as shown on the drawing, the heat can be dispersed and transmitted to the tube 8. Consequently the heat-resistant characteristic of the collector can be improved resulting in the improvement of the reliability.
