Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the damages in the incident end part of an optical fiber bundle for illumination by disposing a water cooler near the incident end side face of said bundle in such a way that good thermal contact is obtained. CONSTITUTION:A water cooler 8 is like a water jacket or spiral tube and is disposed near the incident end side face of an optical fiber bundle 3 for illumination in such a way that good thermal contact with a metallic pipe 4 is obtained. Cooling water is supplied from a water feeder through a water feed pipe 9 to the cooler 8, and is discharged through a discharger pipe 10. Although the end face 3a of the bundle 3 is heated to high temps. by the radiation heat from a light source 2, the temp. near the end face 3a of the bundle 3 is forcibly reduced by the cooling effect of the cooler 8 disposed near the incident end side face in such a way that good thermal contact is obtained.
