Abstract

PURPOSE:To realize the best tracking automatically by slantingly fixing a tracking detecting head, having track width greater than that of a reproducing head, to the reproducing head and by detecting as a tracking differential signal the phase shift between both signals from them. CONSTITUTION:To housing 1 of reproducing head 2, tracking detecting head 4 having track width greater than that of reproducing head 2 is slantingly fixed while their heads coincide with each other. A signal reproduced by reproducing head 2 is passed through voltage amplifier 14 to obtain reproduced signal output 17, which is also passed through synchronous separator 15, where a horizontal synchronizing signal is separated to trigger saw-tooth wave generator 16, so that a saw-tooth wave is inputted to phase comparator 18. A reproduced signal from detecting head 4, on the other hand, is sent to voltage amplifier 21 and synchronous separator 22, whose output horizontal synchronizing signal is passed through phase delay device 23 and sampling pulse generator 24 to send pulses to phase comparator 18. The output of phase comparator 18 is passed through current amplifier 19 and DC motor 9 for automatic control so that the best tracking can be performed.
