Abstract

PURPOSE:To suppress the generation of a noise band, by sampling a difference of a pilot signal between adjacent tracks with a pulse in response to a reproducing tape speed and performing tracking servo with this sampling output. CONSTITUTION:A head switching pulse RF-SW is multiplied by (n) for the n- multiple speed of reproduction and applied to a switch 6. Pilot signals f1-f4 from a pilot signal generating circuit 5 are sequentially switched by n-times per one field with a switching circuit 6 to form a reference pilot signal (c). This signal (c) is given to a multiplier 4, is taken with the difference from a reproduced pilot signal (b), two difference signals are given to rectifiers 9 and 10 via a BPF, and an error signal (g) is obtained by subtracting the both. The polarity of the error signal (g) is inverted at each changeover of the reference pilot signal to be a tracking signal (h). This signal is sampled at a sample hold circuit 20 to obtain a tracking servo signal, allowing to reduce or prevent the generation of noise band.
