Abstract
PURPOSE:To perform auto-tracking of a VTR, etc., well and surely without pilot signals, etc., by recording video signals, which are modulated with a strong correlation after and before one horizontal scanning period, in the same phase and the opposite phase in every adjacent tracks. CONSTITUTION:Video signals are modulated with a strong correlation before and after one horizontal scanning period by FM modulator 2 which is controlled by synchronizing signal separation circuit 5 and reset signal generator 6. These modulated signals and modulated signals which have the phase inverted by polarity inverter 3 are switched by switching signal generator 7 and switching circuit 4 which are controlled by vertical synchronizing signal separation circuit 8, frequency divider 9 and signal generator 6, and are recorded on the VTR tape through head 10. Then, video signals which were modulated with the strong correlation of the same phase and the opposite phase in every adjacent tracks are recorded before and after one horizontal scanning period. As a result, when the position of the head is subjected to servo control so that the sum of in-phase and anti-phase reproducing signals modulated with this correlation may be zero, auto-tracking is performed.
