Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of the noise band of a still picture by controlling a magnetic tape drive system by accurately detecting the minimum point of an envelope by detecting the peak of a noise after FM-demodulating a reproduced video signal. CONSTITUTION:Video signals from two rotary magnetic heads (a) and (b) are converted into a continuous wave by field-by-field switching with pulses from head- switching pulse generating circuit 14 and the wave is supplied to amplifying circuit 15. The output of circuit 15 is amplitude-limited by limiter 19, and output is demodulated into a video signal by FM demodulator 20. Since this modulated signal contains a noise of large amplitude at the minimum point of its envelope, it is detected by peak detecting circuit 22, and inputted to phase comparing circuit 23. Circuit 23 compares a signal, equalized to a vertical synchronizing signal by delaying head switching pulses from circuit 14 by delay circuit 24, to a signal from circuit 22 and capstan motor 27 is driven with the output of circuit 23 until the output of circuit 22 becomes in phase with the center of a vertical blanking period.
