Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to clamp definitely the maximum and minimum of an analog signal to set values respectively by inputting the output of an operational amplifier to error amplifiers differing in set reference value and then by feeding their outputs back to the input side of the operational amplifier.
CONSTITUTION: Since diode 14 is biased forward to +Vcc in a stationary state, the output of operational amplifier 3 is fed back to its input side by way of error amplifier 6. As a result, the waveform of output signal (b) is clamped to a value equal to reference potential (c). Although analog signal (a) from terminal 1 rises gradually, diodes 14 and 15 are both OFF until variation in amplitude becomes constant, and output (b) varies with the gain of operational amplifier 3. Once the amplitude exceeds certain width and the amplitude of output (b) surpasses reference voltage (d), diodes conduct to feed the output of error amplifier 7 back to the input side of amplifier 3 and from the point in time until the point when the waveform of signal (a) reaches its peak, output (b) is clamped to the same potential as reference potential (d). Further, when signal (a) falls from its maximum, output (b) is clamped to reference potential (c).
