Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain an electrode having high filling density by filling paste active substance in the metal sponge porous body in three dimensional structure and molding the paste in semi-dried state by means of a pressing surface having a number of uneven parts.
CONSTITUTION: Paste active substance is filled in the sponge metal porous body 2 which has high porosity and a space part 1 continuous in three dimensions, and after dried to semi-dried state (the liquid content of about 15% by weight is suitable), the paste is pressed by a flat plate 3 or a roller 3a. In order to form a number of uneven parts on the pressurized surface, woven fabric or nonwoven fabric 4 made of, for example, hard resin or cellulose nitrate is applied, and pressure is applied. The concaved part in the uneven part is formed so as to be continuous from the center of the pressed surface to the end part, and thus the air contained in the electrode substratum in pressure application can be removed favourably.
