Abstract

PURPOSE: To considerably enhance the effect of aggregating snd dehydrating sludge by combinedly adding dust coal and a Mannich modification product of an acrylamide (co)polymer to the sludge and dehydrating the sludge thus aggregated.
CONSTITUTION: To raw sludge, excess sludge, digested sludge, etc. discharged from treatment of various kinds of waste water are combinedly added dust coal and the above-mentioned Mannich modification product in an amt. of 50W500wt% and 0.05W5wt%, respectively to the amt. of solid matter in the sludge. The sludge is then mixed while agitating by a known method in a mixing vessel or the like, followed by aggregation and dehydration. The Mannich modification product is of polyacrylamide or of a copolymer contg. a dominant amt. of acrylamide. Mannich modification is performed by reacting the (co)polymer with aldehydes and sec. amines. A copolymer of acrylamide and a vinyl monomer copolymerizable with acrylamide is pref. used as the above copolymer.
