Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the concn. of concd. sludge and to increase the rates of filtration and dehydration by adding and mixing a specific amt. of a high polymer flocculant to and with org. sludge prior to introduction into a concentrating vessel, and adding a specific amt. of a high polymer flocculant to concd. sludge prior to dehydration treatment.
CONSTITUTION: A high polymer flocculant is added at ≥10%, ≤50% the total amt. of its addition to org. sludge prior to introduction into a concentrating vessel and this is conducted to the concentrating vessel, whereby gravity concn. is accomplished. The remaining amt. of the high polymer flocculant is added to the sludge after the concn., after which it is subjected to dehydration treatment with a centrifugal dehydrator, a belt press type dehyrator, etc. There are, acrylic acid salt type, maleic acid copolymer salt type, polyacrylic amide partially- hydrolyzed salt type, etc. as the above-described high polymer flocculant. By dividing the addition amt. of the high polymer flocculant to twice as mentioned above, and setting the amts. thereof in a specific range, the gravity concentrating characteristics of the sludge are improved and the filtration and dehydration characteristics of the sludge are improved.
