Abstract
PURPOSE: To form large flocks and enhance solid-liquid separating effect in a filtration process by adding a water sol. polymer contg. a specified structual unit in above a predetermined ratio to an inorg. salts-contg. suspension with an electrical conductivity above 10000 μΩ-1.
CONSTITUTION: To an inorg. salts-contg. suspension with an electrical conductivity above 1000 μΩ-1, e.g. seawater-diluted, digested waste liquor from a sewage disposal process is added a water sol. polymer contg. above 5, esp. 15W80 mol% of a structural unit represented by the formula. The polymer may be pref. an acrylamide copolymer, e.g. acrylamide-β-acryloyloxyethyldimethylbenzylammonium chloride copolymer. The amt. of the polymer added is 0.5W5, esp. 1W3 wt% to the amt. of the suspended solids in the suspension.
