Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce the captioned roll which is qualitatively and economically superior surely and easily by performing centrifugal casting through the use of the double molds comprising inserting a plurality of sleeves of respectively different inside diameters in series into the cylindrical inside surface of an outside chiller.
CONSTITUTION: Two sleeves 4, 5 of different inside diameters are inserted into the cylindrical inside surface of an outside chiller 3 and sand molds 6, 6 for forming the neck parts of the roll are incorporated to both ends. The resultant double molds by the outside chiller 3 and sleeves 4, 5 are set on rotary rollers 7, 7 and are revolved. At the same time, outside shell molten metal is cast into the molds through feed spout 9, etc. The outside shell layer is cast on the inside diametral surfaces 4a, 5a of the sleeves 4, 5 through centrifugal force.
