Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable molds to be produced readily with inexpensive equipment by providing a suction-exhaust device and maintaining the inside of hardening chamber at negative pressure in the mold producing apparatus by a cold box method involving covering molding sand surfaces with polyurethane prepolymer. CONSTITUTION:The mold 22 molded from silica sand with polyurethane prepolymer as a binder is placed on a base 25 and is conveyed onto the roller conveyor 24 in a hardening chamber, where a perforated plate 26 is placed thereon. Thence, a piston 15 is lowered by the operation of a fluid pressure cylinder 11 and a gas feeder 16 for hardening is pressed onto the perforated plate. Next, the closing plate is closed by the operation of a closing device 4, after which the inside of the hardening chamber is put under negative pressure by a suction-exhaust device 14. In this state, hardening amine gas goes through a gas feed port 12, flexible pipe 17 and orifice 20 and filters and diffuses in the mold 22, whereby the mold is hardened. The exhaust gas and the air having been sucked through spacings passes through an exhaust pipe 13 and is exhausted by the suction-exaust device 14 and is released into the atmosphere through an amine absorption tower.
