Abstract

PURPOSE: To maintain the seed action of circulating sodium oxalate crystals for removing org. matter for a long time by contacting the crystals to an unsatd. aq. sodium oxalate soln. after they are used to deposit the org. matter in an alumina producing process.
CONSTITUTION: An org. matter-contg. sodium aluminate soln. is introduced into deposition vessel 2 to deposit the org. matter with sodium oxalate crystals for seeds added from duct 3. The deposited org. matter crystals are sent to filter 5 to be separated into an org. matter crystal cake and a sodium aluminate soln. The cake is discharged through divider 7, and part of it is introduced into dissolution vessel 10. An unsatd. aq. sodium oxalate soln. is added to vessel 10 in an amt. required to receover the seed action, i.e. to dissolve about 10W15wt% of the amt. of the org. matter deposited on the seeds in vessel 2, contacting the unsatd. soln to part of the cake. After dissolving the desired amt. of the org. matter the resulting slurry is introduced into vessel 2 and reused as sodium oxalate for seeds.
