Abstract

PURPOSE: A carrier such as cellulose is dissolved in a organic solvent and prostaglandin and an organic acid are added to the solution, then they are dried to give the titled vaginal supporsitory that gradually and continuously release the effective component and is used as a remedy with high biological efficiency.
CONSTITUTION: A carrier such as hydrocycellulose is dissolved in an organic solvent such as an alcohol. When the solution becomes clear, prostglandin and an organic acid such as citric acid which have previously been dissolved in an organic solvent are combined with the above solution and stirring is continued until the mixture becomes homogeneous. The resultant solution is formed into films with a device equipped with temperature and wind regulators through the casting process.
EFFECT: The suppository shows adquate effectiveness with little dose. The film-forming process is effected at low temperatures and so, even unstable substances do not decompose substantially during the process. The high stability is kept for a long time. Since the suppository has a small size and undertake little softening and deformation, the insertion into vagina is easy. The pharmacological effectiveness continues for a long time with less fluctuation.
