Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare a mildewcidal agent which can be used outdoors and indoors for a long period and can be mixed in concrete, paper, etc., by using a fatty acid derived from hexafluoro-oligomer and ammonium salt or hydroxide of nickel or copper, as active components.
CONSTITUTION: A fatty acid derived from a hexafluoro-oligomer is dissolved in a mixed solvent consisting of 70% isopropyl alcohol and 30% water. Equivalent of 30% aqueous solution of e.g. nickel hydroxide is added to and reacted with the solution, and the reaction product is filtered, washed with hot water, and dried. The resultant powder or granule containing nickel ion is used as an active component. Ammonium salt of nickel, or hydroxide or ammonium salt of copper may be used in place of the nickel hydroxide. The active component has low solubility in water, high stability to solvents, acids and alkalis, high decomposition temperature, low surface tension in a solution of e.g. ethyl cellosolve, etc., and excellent penetration property.
