Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent rupture by thermal shock through toughness of pure iron core material by grooving the broken portion, pouring molten pure iron formed through reaction of thermit agent as the core material in this groove and allowing the same to harden then build-up welding the cast iron on top thereof and finishing the weld.
CONSTITUTION: Broken part of a steel ingot casting mold 1 is grooved 2 and is segmented to segmented grooves 2A thru D each of not less than 20mm in depth, not more than 250mm in side length and not more than 1l in volume by partition steel plates 3. Next, the segmented groove 2A is preheated to about 400°C, after which a crucible 5 for reaction containing thermit agent 6 is placed on the groove and is then ignited to allow the molten pure iron to flow out from the crucible bottom hole and fill the groove 2A with the molten pure iron. From this point on, the molten pure iron is filled in the grooves 2B thru D in the similar manner without making preheating. Next, the molten pure iron is allowed to harden, after which pure iron is build-up welded as core material on the top of the pure iron and is then finished.
