Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve engine efficiency by employing an arrangement capable of effecting discharge of combustion gas and introduction of fresh air almost simultaneously and scavenging residual combustion gas by the fresh air, by disposing a scavenging port in the vicinity of exhaust port.
CONSTITUTION: A plurality of vanes 13 are fixed to vane shaft 15 which is disposed along the central axis of cylinder 11; and sealing between these vanes 13 and the inner wall surface of cylinder 11 is ensured by keeping the vanes 13 in contact with the inner wall surface of cylinder 11 aloways perpendicularly to the same. Further, scavenging port 19 and exhaust port 18 are formed in cylinder 11 adjacently to each other, so that fresh air is introduced into combustion chamber while discharging combustion gas to the outside and residual combustion gas is scavenged to the outside by the fresh air. With such an arrangement, explosion is caused the number of times equal to the number of vanes 13 for each one rotation of rotor 12, so that a relatively high output can be obtained for a small cylinder.
