Abstract
PURPOSE:To readily prevent the occurrence of defective shapes by cooling the peripheral portion of at least one work roll in contact with the rolling plate material and heating or cooling the both side peripheral portions not in contact with the rolling plate material thereby forming a desired heat crown distribution. CONSTITUTION:In the case of beforehand performing controlling between rolling, the temperature distribution in the axial center direction of a work roll 1a necessary for obtaining the heat crown having been empirically obtained is calculated and forecast and so as to obtain this temperature distribution, the coolant flow rate is controlled with respect to the central part A of the roll 1a in contact with the rolling material 5 and the heating quantity by a heater 3 or coolant flow rate is controlled with respect to both side parts B. In the case of controlling during rolling, the current temperature distribution in the axial direction of the roll 1a is calculated and forecast from the current rolling conditions, the current heat crown is calculated from the temperature distribution thus obtained, it is compared with a desired heat crown distribution and according to the errors therebetween, the cooling of the central part A as well as the heating or cooling of the both side parts B are controlled.
