Abstract
PURPOSE:To exactly control the cooling temperature of strips to a target temperature by using in combination a feed forward control to determine the number of cooling ducts and a feed back control to correct the number of ducts in cooling strips after continuous annealing. CONSTITUTION:While being transferred from the left to the right in the cooling zone of a continuous annealing furnace, the strip 1 is cooled by n numbers of the cooling ducts 2-1 to 2-N. In this case, a relation between the overall heat transmission coefficient in the heat transmission model equation, representing the heat transmission to strip, and the number of the cooling ducts is obtained beforehand. Each time operating condition is changed, the number of ducts is obtained from a predicted value of overall heat transmission coefficient by which the target temperature of strip on the outlet side of cooled strip can be attained, and then by using the ducts, a feed forward control for cooling is made. Also, the temperature of strip is measured on the outlet side of cooled strip during cooling, then the difference between the measured value and the target temperature is fed back to correct the number of ducts, and then the temperature of strip on the outlet side of cooled strip is fitted in with exactly the target temperature.
