Abstract

PURPOSE:Preliminary temperature measurements are made on warm steel strips in hot charging before they are inserted into continuous reheating furnace, and the temperature of the furnace is controlled accordingly, thereby effecting the reduction of fuel unit consumption. CONSTITUTION:The temperature of warm steel strip is preliminarily determined before it enters continuous reheating furnace. To effect this, the measurements are made on the steel strip temperature immediately after blooming and rolling or continuous casting, as well as the time between the temperature measurement ans steel strip insertion into the furnace. Both temperature and time are used to determine the temperature at which the steel strip enters the furnace. Alternatively, the temperature can be measured just before the steel strip enters the furnace. Based on the determined temperature, the precalculated formula is used to control temperatures at each zone in the furnace so that the steel strip may be extracted at a preselected temperature.
