Abstract
PURPOSE: To permit the drawing of excessive sludge in exact quantity by calculating the flow rate of entering sewage, the concentration of MLSS, and the concentration of return and excessive sludges.
CONSTITUTION: Sewage from the inlet tube 8 is directed to the final sedimentation basin 1 through the pipe 11 from the aeration tank 6, and also a part of sedimented sludge in the sedimentation basin 1 is sent back to the tank 6 through the pipe 13 and excessive sludge is drawn out of the pipe 5 through the regulating valve 4. The inflow QP of sewage measured by the flow meter 7 and the MLSS concentration MP measured by the densitometer 9 are put in the arithmetic unit 10 from which Qp×MP value is sent out. On the other hand, the concentration CR of return sludge measured by the return sludge densitometer 12 is put in the arithmetic unit 14 from which (QP×MP)/CR value calculated here to obtain the amount of excessive sludge is sent out as a set value to the regulator 16. Then, the amount QE of drawn excessive sludge measured by the flow meter 15 is fed back to the regulator 16 which controls the valve 4 to make zero the deviation between the set value (QP×MP)/CR and the drawn amount QE.
