Abstract

PURPOSE:To stabilize frequency control over a local oscillator by using an automatic frequency tracking unit, which controls an oscillation frequency by a digital signal, as a circuit exercising automatic control over a local oscillation frequency used for a radar unit. CONSTITUTION:An output from AFC mixer 3 of a radar unit is applied to frequency discriminator 4 to develop a voltage in proportion to a shift of an intermediate frequency from the frequency of a difference between the frequency of local oscillator 6 and a transmitted signal, and this voltage is applied to loop filter 5, whose output is converted into a digital signal by A/D converter 10. A signal of a difference in frequency between the transmitted output of mixer 3 and oscillator 6 is supplied to comparator 12 by way of filter 11 taking the intermediate frequency as a center frequency and comparator 12 compares the input signal with a fixed reference value; when the value is more than a fixed value, a signal is sent to gate circuit 13 to stop converter 10 from being applied with a conversion start command, and the oscillation frequency of oscillator 6 is controlled by a signal obtained by digitizing the output of converter 10.
