Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate the switching between the FM modulation and the multi- phase modulation by providing the mixer for frequency compounding into the phase lock loop. CONSTITUTION:When change-over switches Ba and Bb are connected as shown in the diagram, the signals sent from multi-phase oscillator 1 are fixed to one standard signal via phase selection circuit 2 to be thus used as the reference signal of the phase lock loop. At the same time, the FM modulation is applied to the output signal of VCO5 by the input signal applied to modulator 10 and via terminal 15. In case the change-over switches are connected in the opposite position to the diagram, modulator 10 features the non-modulation state. And thus the signal given from oscillator 11 is supplied to mixer 7 in the form of the frequency compounding reference signal which gives conversion to the signal sent from VCO5 to the signal frequency to be supplied to phase detector 3. Furthermore, the multi-phase conversion signal input applied to terminal 14 is added to phase selection circuit 2, and thus the multi-phase modulation is applied to the output signal of VCO5.
