Abstract
PURPOSE: To separation-recover Y from Y ore continuously and efficiently by separating highly extractable metals out of accompanying metals contained in the ore; extraction-concentrating the desired Y; and leaving slightly extractable metals out of the accompanying metals in a raw material soln. when the Y is separation-recovered from the accompanying metals by solvent extraction.
CONSTITUTION: Y ore contg. accompanying metals such as light and heavy rare earth metals is dissolved in an aq. mineral acid soln. or the like to prepare raw material soln. 7. Soln. 7 is fed to A system vessel 1, where highly extractable metals out of the accompanying metals are extracted into solvent 8 such as carboxylic acid or an org. phosphorus cpd. by countercurrent extraction with solvent phase 8. Aq. phase raw material soln. 7 is introduced into B system extraction vessel 2 to extract the desired Y with solvent phase 8 and to leave slightly extractable accompanying metals in phase 7. Phase 8 is then separated into two parts, and one part is recycled as the solvent for vessel 1. The remainder is introduced into C system vessel 3 to shift the slightly extractable metals contained to aq. phase 33, and thus the desired metal Y is concentrated in phase 8 and separation-recovered.
