Abstract

PURPOSE:To straighten bent rolls or suppress the progression of their bending and prevent the degradation in the quality of slab by detecting the bends of the slab guide rolls during continuous cating, cooling the convex face side of the camber roll when the concave side of the bent roll opposes to the slab. CONSTITUTION:The bend amounts of the respective upper and lower rolls along with the revolutions of the rolls through movement to guide a slab during continuous casting are detected with detectors 12, 12a and these are inputted to a memory operator 18. As shown in the convex face side BR-1 of the detected roll BR, the solenoid valve 17a of the water spray piping 15a of said bent roll is opened by the signal from the operator 18 at the timing at which it opposes to the surface of the slab 22, whereby water is sprayed to the convex face side RB-1 of the bent roll. Next, the valve 17a is closed by the signal from the operator 18 at the timing at which the concave face side BR-2 of the roll BR opposes to the slab 22 when the roll has rotated and advanced by, e.g., 90 deg.. In the case of the lower roll, the solenoid valve 17 is operated in a similar manner.
