Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve both insulation resistance between input and output and light transmission rates by using the chemical combination of silicone resin and epoxy resin as a resinons container.
CONSTITUTION: A semiconductor light-emitting element 1 and a semiconductor light-receiving element 3 are arranged at specified opposing positions, and light- transmission resin 5 comprising silicone resin in a rubber or gel state is contacted with the elements 1 and 3 and filled the space at least between both elements. Then, an outside container is formed by using resin 6 which is prepared by chemically combining silicone resin and epoxy resin, and a photo-coupler is obtained. As a result, contact between the resin 5 and resin 6 is good, and since the index of light refraction of the epoxy resin is smaller than that of the silicone resin, the reflection of light at the boundary of the resin 5 and the resin 6 becomes good. Therefore, both insulation resistance and light transmission rates can be improved.
