Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the artifitial sand of superior properties for aggregate by air crushing the molten blast furnace slag mixed with coloring agents under the specific conditions, then cooling the same while gas transporting the same with conveying gas. CONSTITUTION:Molten blast furnace slag 2 of 1300-1500 deg.C mixed with coloring agents is flowed down from the flow-down trough 3 of a ladle 1 and air having wind velocity of 50-200m/sec. is blown from a blow nozzle 4. While the spherical particle slag 2a flown into a wind tunnel 5 is being conveyed in a lead-out pipe 7 together with the air sucked trough a wind tunnel opening 5a by an induction fan 8, it cools and is taken out through the dispensing gate 10 of a separator 9. The resultant granular slag exhibits neat glass spherical form of particle size 10mm or less and becomes the artificial sand which is ideally suited for aggregate of concrete surface plates, etc.
