Abstract

PURPOSE:To inexpensively produce high-quality powdery slag without causing explosion, by making molten slag fly in a water mist atmosphere to granulate and to disperse the molten slag and cooling. CONSTITUTION:Molten slag 1a produced by metal smelting is dropped from a pot C through a hopper d and a conduit 3 on rotary drums 10a and 10b having a radiated blade 10' on the outer periphery, granulated, dispersed, the direction of the slag is changed by a flying control roller 13' in a stationary hood 12 above the drums 10a and 10b and introduced into a rotary hood 11 which is rotated through a motor 22 and a gear 22' while vertically moving and is slant downward at the right. The slag is brought into contact with water mist jetted from a nozzle 13 set at the front upper part of the hood 11 and air supplied through a ring-shaped air pipe 14 and a through hole 14a set at the left end of the outer periphery of the hood 11 and discharged from an outlet 20.
