Abstract

PURPOSE:To granulate the discharged molten slag and effectively utilize the resources, by disposing divided rectangular containers beneath the wind crushing hood, providing a conveyor in the upper chamber, and passing a cooling water through the lower chamber. CONSTITUTION:Molten slag A running down from a tundish 3 is turned into granular slag B by the high pressure air injected from a nozzle 5 to scatter in a wind crushing hood 6, and is stacked up in the surroundings of a screw 23 of a conveyor system 7. In this period, water is supplied into the gap between an intermediate plate 24b and a bottom plate 24a of a container 24 and into a hollow shaft 23a of the screw 23 from a water feed pump 9 to be heat-exchanged with the stacked high temperature granular slag B. The steam evaporated from the water is introduced into a discharge piping 15 and is appropriately utilized. The slag B cooled to low temperature is further heat-exchanged by the screw 23 which rotates by the actuation of a drive system 8 and is carried forward to be discharged through a hopper 11.
