Abstract

478,707. Moulding dolomite; furnaces. DUFFIELD, F. L. July 21, 1936, No. 20187 [Classes 22 and 87 (ii)] [Also in Group XII] In the method of manufacturing bricks &c. from materials typefiable by dolomite described in Specification 278,120, [Class 22], the material is sintered in an oscillating furnace having a spout-like outlet fitted with a door to enable it to be closed to the atmosphere during sintering so that during discharge the outlet is at substantially the same temperature as the furnace. The furnace comprises a body a lined with refractory b and having a tapering spout m, also lined and closed by a hinged door o. Powdered fuel is supplied from a hopper c to a burner e and a movable flue g at the opposite end of the furnace is water cooled by rings h. The furnace is oscillated by rings k running on rails l. The sintered material is run directly into the moulds which may be continuously moved under the discharge spout.
