Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce the thin strip of a broad width without producing any intricate curls by dropping molten material between revolving rolls and quench rolling the same in such a manner that the rates of cooling at the respective parts in the width direction of the material existing between the rolls become even.
CONSTITUTION: Material 12 having been melted in a heating melting device 11 is injected from a nozzle 19 by gas pressure or plunger pressure and is let to fall between twin rolls 13, 13'. Cooling gases 15, 15' are respectively spouted from the gas nozzles 14, 14' provided on both sides in the width direction of the rolls 13, 13' to cool the portions 16, 16' near both side end parts of the material having spread in the width direction between the rolls 13, 13'. The portion 17 near the central part of the material 12 and the portions 16, 16' are cooled at the same rate of cooling by suitably controlling the temperatures and flow rates of said cooling gases 15, 15'. Then, the material 12 is rolled, whereby the straight-form thin strip may be produced.
