Abstract
PURPOSE: To produce smooth and sufficiently cooled thin metal strips, by depositing and solidifying molten metal on the outer circumferential surface of a roll rotating at high speed, and contacting a plurality of auxiliary rolls of small diameter with said roll.
CONSTITUTION: After melting the metal charged in a tubular container 1 in a heating furnace 10, this molten metal 3 is injected to the outside of a main roll 5 which is being rotating, from a nozzle 2 by applying gas pressure. The molten metal 3 is made to contact with the surface of the roll 5, and is cooled and solidified. Thus obtained thin metal strip 4 is passed through between the roll 5 and auxiliary rolls 7, 8, 9. In this case, releasing of the strip 4 passed through the roll 5 and roll 7 from the roll 5 is prevented by the gas pressure being injected 11, and the strip is rolled and cooled in the rolls 8, 9 in succession. Due to injection of gas from injection pipes 12, 13, prevention of releasing and cooling of the strip 4 are achieved.
