Abstract
PURPOSE: To accurately obtain the alignment for entire the roll group, by converting the coordinates of each roll at the coordinate system determined with the shape of instrument into specific coordinate system, through the use of the instrument and operation unit which can be passed through the roll cavity.
CONSTITUTION: The cross point between the extended surface forward to the reference circular arc of the instrument MD and extension line forward to the measuring means 25 or guide member 24 is taken as an origin O, and the striaght line toward the center of reference circular arc 23 Po in the plane orthoronal to the reference circular arc plane 23 including the measurement means 25 from the origin O is taken as yo axis and the axis orthogonal to it is taken as xo axis. When the radius of the reference circular arc surface 23 is taken Rg, the coordinate of the point Po is (O,Rg). The coordinate (x,y) of the contact point P of the roll Ro in contact with the circular arc of the lower surface front end of the measurement unit MD is obtained with the operation by the operator DPS and it is converted into desired coordinates. Thus, based on the result of calculation of the coordinates of each roll for the roll group, the alignment as the roll group can accurately be measured.
