Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable accurate and efficient measurement of a free curved surface by bringing a measuring element into contact with a reference block through an adaptor attached thereto to detect the origin while the measuring element gets in contact with an object separated from the adaptor to measure it. CONSTITUTION:A probe 2 is pivoted rotably on a body 1 of a three-dimensional measuring machine and a measuring element 3 is mounted detachably thereon while a micropoint tip section 4 is formed at the tip thereof. When determining the reference measuring point, namely, the coordinate origin of the probe 2, after the axis of the measuring element 3 is adjusted in a proper direction, an origin adjusting adaptor 9 is mounted at the tip of the measuring element 3 and semispherical bodies 10 of the adaptor 9 are brought into contact with three planes of a reference block 12 separately to detect the origin point. When measuring, after the adaptor 9 is removed, the measuring element 3 is brought into contact with an object to be measured. This enables accurate and efficient measurement of the free surface thereof as well.
