Abstract
PURPOSE:To give a transitional rotary movement with a preset turning radius similar to an astronomical orbit to a surface plate for mounting an electrode, without turning the plate, by vertically controlling the position of an orbital guide. CONSTITUTION:An internally conical surface 5 is formed at the center of an orbital guide 4 of a spark erosion machine. Since an oscillating body 9 is linearly transferred to any position with regard to a frame 2, the body 9 is kept pressed in the direction of 360 deg as a stationary spindle 32 turns. A conical ring 11 is transferred being guided by the surface 5, so that the oscillating body 9, without turning on its own axis, makes a transitional rotary movement on an astronomical orbit, with an eccentricity of e as a turning radius. When the eccentricity is altered, the radial clearance between the electrode 29 and a work 30 is relatively increased or decreased. This method can machine various kind of holes by using a single shape of electrode.
